QLSA Allstars over REDNMF Allstars 11-0

After losing last year 18-11, the QLSA Allstars defeated the REDNMF Allstars in the 2nd annual "Commissioners Allstar Cup Challenge" to even the series at 1 game each, winning this years event 11-0.

Last years game was hosted by the QLSA under the lights and played under QLSA Rules. This years game was played during the day and under REDNMF Rules. Once again the game was lots of fun as the QLSA provided the fluids and REDNMF the burgers and dogs.

The QLSA went yard 5x in the game {Chris Brudie twice with two run shots in the 1st & 5th to LCF, Brain Munoz with a two run shot to RCF in the 1st, Mark Shepard with a solo bomb to LF in the 5th and Nelson Davila with a solo shot to RCF in the 2nd} will pounding out 20 hits {Five by Mark Shepard who represented the Flushing 46ers and was names the QLSA's game MVP}.

QLSA's Nelson Davila {Primetime} and Danny Baratau {Kings of Corona} combined in tossing the nine inning shutout surrendering only a combined total of 7 hits {Junior Romulo had a pair and was named REDNMF's MVP for the game}.

Danny Woods {Flushing 46ers} had three singles, Carl Diaz {Sundevils} a three bagger and Edwin Fernandez {Los Muertos} along with Neem Perez {Playaz} a pair of hits. Pedro Ramos {Los Muertos} had a hit and two sac flies and catcher Jerry Hayes {Allstars} caught a REDNMF base runner sleeping in the 8th as he fires a strike to 1st base in a rare successful pickoff.

Thanks to all who made the event a success {including umps Gary Rizzo & Irving Gonzalez along with the cook Mrs. Gotay, Coach Bobby Thomatos of Flushing 46ers, Cris Catenacci of Allstars and Jose Gil of los Muertos} at least for a year the "Commissioners Three Legged Award" is in the QLSA house......

QLSA 3rd: Sheppard singles to LF. Ramos flies put to Gil in LF, one out, Shepard holds. Munoz pops out to Bailey at 2nd, two out. Diaz flies out to Merced in RF, third out inning over, one stranded. QLSA leads 5-0.

REDNMF 3rd: Catenacci flies out to Munoz in LCF. Bailey pops out to Ramos in foul territory at first, two out. Gil singles to CF. Fairwell singles to CF, Gil taking third, runners on the corners. Moore pops out to Perez at SS for third out. two stranded, non in, score remains QLSA 5-0 after three complete innings.

QLSA 4th: Hayes lines out to Gil in LF. Davila called out on strikes. Fernandez bounces back to the mound, Gotay over to Martinez. QLSA goes down 1-2-3. QLSA lead remains 5-0.

REDNMF 4th: Merced pops out to Perez at SS. Caestany flies out to Diaz in RF. Martinez singles to center. Gotay pops out to Woods at 2nd, third out to end the inning. One man stranded. QLSA leads 5-0 after four complete.

QLSA 5th: Perez flies out to Merced in RF. Woods singles up the middle. Brudie homers to LCF scoring Woods, QLSA leads 7-0. Sheppard follows up with a solo shot off the LF reservation and QLSA leads 8-0. Ramos singles over the base at third. Munoz singles to RF and Ramos out trying to go from 1st to home. Merced to Bailey to Caestany. Munoz moves up to 3rd on the play. Diaz lines out to Martinez at first to end the inning. One stranded, three in ad QLSA leads 8-0.

REDNMF 5th: Romulo gets on with an infield hit and awarded second on the Hayes overthrow. Catenacci flies out to Diaz in RF. Baratau relieves Davila on the hill for QLSA. First batter he faces is Bailey and he gets him to hit into a DP, Perez to Woods to Ramos. Inning over QLSA leads 8-0 after five complete.

QLSA 6th: Hayes pops out to Catenacci at SS. Baratau singles to LF. Fernandez singles to CF. Runners on 1st & 2nd. Perez hits into a fielders choice as second baseman Bailey steps on bag retiring Fernandez. Baratau moves to third. QLSA has runners on the corners 2 out. Woods flies out to Fairwell in LCF. QLSA strands two men still leads 8-0.

REDNMF 6th: Gil flies out to Sheppard in LF. Fairwell flies out to Diaz in RF. Moore flies out to Sheppard in LF. Out 1-2-3. After six complete QLSA leads 8-0.

QLSA 7th: Brudie flies out to Romulo in RCF. Sheppard singles up the middle his 4th hit of game. Ramos lines out to Moore at third. Munoz flies out to Merced in RF. One stranded. QLSA with 8-0 lead.

REDNMF 7th: Merced grounds out to short, Perez to Ramos. Caestany singles to RF. Martinez hits into a double play Perez at short to Woods at second to Ramos at first. Three up three down. QLSA leads 8-0 after seven complete.

QLSA 8th: Diaz reaches on shortstop error, taking second on the overthrow. Hayes flies out to Fairwell in LCF, Diaz holds second. Baratau flies out to Gil in LF, Diaz still hold second.
